Grossglockner, Pasterze
After 13 years I turned back to the Grossglocker, Austria’s highest mountain (3.798m). This time with my family.
My last visit was 2003 with my friends Ben & Marcelle from New Orleans. While the landscape is mostly the same, there is a big decrease of the „Pasterze Glacier“ in evidence. Between 5.000 to 1.500 B.C. the area of the „Pasterze“ was meadowland and moor vegetation. About 7.000 years ago Swiss stone pines have grown there. Glaciers come and go, with and without humans. At least in the Alps.

Anyway, if you visit Austria, put the Grossglockner on your wish list!
